Extreme Makeover : Home Edition
We are very proud to have been a part of the team on the 12th episode of ‘Extreme Makeover’ for the Cadigan-Scott family in Livermore. This family of eight children, ranging in age from 12 to 23 years old, lost both parents within two weeks of each other and were living in a run down three bedroom home. Along with the ‘Extreme Makeover’ designers there were 200 workers who transformed this house into a beautiful contemporary home.
Our involvement came to light in April of 2004 when we were approached to assist with the rough carpentry for the project. Our staff of experienced carpenters aided in the framing and erection of trusses for the new structure. Our crew’s hard work played an important role in the project’s success. We were happy to help make a dream come true for this deserving family.

The Candle Lighters
Candle Lighters is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds for non-profit groups and community-based projects in the Tri-City Community. (Fremont, Newark & Union City). They raise money solely through their annual Ghost House, open during the last two weeks of October and based in a historical 19th century Carriage House. Strong Construction has been a ‘Room Sponsor’, helping with start up money for the construction of the Ghost House each year, since 2003. It is very rewarding to be part of this wonderful family-oriented event!

Boy Scouts in Training
In March of 2003 & 2006, Strong Construction conducted a hands-on demonstration for the Newark Webelos, assisting them in achieving their ‘Engineering’ Merit badge. By touring whole house remodeling projects of Strong’s in Fremont, the Scouts gained knowledge in structural engineering, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and heating. We are pleased to contribute to the on going education of these youngsters, our cities future.

Book Buck$
Strong Construction has been a Benefactor for Book Buck$, a non-profit program that benefits more than 65,000 Tri-City students and families, for the past 7 years. Students in the Tri-City area (Fremont, Newark, & Union City) read The Argus newspapers with their families to earn “BUCK$” they can spend on rewards offered by local merchants.
The week-long program starts every March and allows students to receive free copies of a local newspaper, The Argus, in their classroom. By reading the newspaper, students earn play money which they are free to spend at hosting local businesses. Book Buck$ gives out more than $200,000 in prizes yearly to kids K-8. Book Buck$ has a long standing relationship with the local community; and we at Strong are proud to have assisted in promoting this fun family activity.
